History of Daria
Daria evolved from the local chapter of the National Delphian Book Club. It was the policy of the national club that each local chapter establishes its own book club after a period of three years with the national organization. Fifteen of the original thirty members chose to continue as a local book club.
A charter membership tea was held on January 13, 1955 at the home of Betty Clyde. Fifteen past Delphianians and fifteen new members signed the charter. Annual dues were set at $7.50.
The first meeting was held at the Aviation Club on January 27, 1955 with Dorothy Lee Wells presiding. Officers were elected at the next meeting held on February 10, 1955.

The membership approved the By-Laws and selected DARIA as the official name of the club. Daria means one who seeks knowledge.
The format for the meetings was established: luncheon followed by a short business meeting and then a presentation and discussion of the scheduled book led by the invited presenter.
Presenters are selected in the spring of each year, and they, in consultation with Daria book club committee, determine the specific books to be assigned for the coming year.
